Pete's Log: Happy Monday, everyone!
Entry #1880, (Life in General)(posted when I was 42 years old.)
I apologize to any Chiefs fans for cheering for them yesterday, I hope I didn't bring bad luck upon your team.
This morning we forgot JB's bear and blanket when I took her to daycare — we usually bring these on Monday and get them back Friday, so it's not something we have to remember every day. But it's the first time we forgot them. Luckily Jamie remembered so I was able to turn around and drive back with her nap necessities. Just means I got a bigger dose of NPR this morning.
Quick aside on the topic of NPR: every time they say "President..." I still expect "Trump" to be the next word and am pleasantly surprised when I hear "Biden" instead. Wonder how long this will effect will last, I don't think I experienced this for any previous presidential transition.
Lately I've found myself debating most days if I want to make a second pot of coffee or not. I think the cold may be a factor in wanting more coffee. Last week I picked up Trader Joe's Spiced Chai, and that has solved the second-pot dilemma for me. Just have a cup of that hot, with a dash of milk, it's *chef's kiss*.
This past weekend it turned real cold here, and it's looking to remain so for a while. At least we've got a nice snow cover, I find cold much more bearable with snow on the ground.
I continue to enjoy my HackerBox subscription in a mostly aspirational way, that is it's fun to unpack each one I get and read the instructions and think of fun ways to use the components. Then put them away with all my other electronics components and hope in a couple years JB will want to learn soldering.
Similarly, I recently subscribed to HackSpace magazine, which I've been buying in stores off and on for the past couple years. I enjoy reading it and look forward to having more time for projects. The second issue of my subscription arrived today, and it included a nice surprise: a Raspberry Pi Pico. It's very elegantly packaged and while I do want to play with it, I kind of like the way it looks as an accent piece on my desk. Maybe it'll inspire me.
