Pete's Log: Being ridiculous

Entry #2011, (Coding, Hacking, & CS stuff)
(posted when I was 43 years old.)

Sometimes I get the feeling that I'm painting myself into a corner and I should try something simpler. Then I remind myself that I'm doing this mostly for fun and the absurdity is a big part of what makes it fun.

So on that note: I can no longer name the Pi Cluster the LRPC (laundry room pi cluster) because I have now given it "geographical redundancy" by moving two of the pis to the garage. Here they are bidding farewell to the ones staying in the laundry room:

And here they are in a temporary arrangement in their new home:

I also removed the PoE hat off the master pi that's remaining in the laundry room and put it on its own power adapter plugged directly into the UPS. So hopefully these actions will reduce having the entire cluster go down at once. The laundry room switch appeared to have another hiccup yesterday afternoon, which is concerning. We'll see how it does with fewer pis to power.

I decided to fix the cluster by just wiping it and starting over. The nice thing was that I was just able to kubectl apply all the manifests I've generated so far and it just worked. So that was reassuring and felt like a good exercise to have tried.

Now it's time to see if I can make any forward progress before bedtime.
