Pete's Log: Recent Lego Happenings
Entry #2357, (Lego, Parenthood)(posted when I was 45 years old.)
Sometime in late winter/early spring, we bought a Lego Pirate Ship, thinking JB would love it. Instead she told us that girls don't like pirates, only boys like pirates.
To counter this idea, we FaceTimed Annie, and in one of the best coincidences of my life, Annie just happened to be working on a Lego pirate ship herself at that moment. So JB decided pirates were OK, but we had to wait for Annie to visit before we build the pirate ship. Luckily it wasn't long before her next visit.
JB and Annie got about three quarters through construction before Annie had to leave. For a couple months, JB insisted we couldn't finish it until Annie returned, but a few weeks ago her patience wore out and she had us finish it without Annie.
Waldorf did not come with the ship, but I think he looks pretty good at the helm. I can't comment much on most of the build, but I think it's a fun set.
JB discovered the Sonic movie recently and has been a fan. So Jamie thought a Sonic Lego set would be fun. And she was correct. Based on JB's reaction, the Sonic minifigure alone was almost worth the cost of the set.
I personally never played the Sonic video games, but the set has a great side-scroller feel to it. The Doctor Robotnik does not look much like the Jim Carrey Robotnik we know from the movie, but I guess it's pretty true to the video game.
The most recent set is a Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama Jamie's parents gave me for my birthday.
I love the vibe of this set. It's full of texture. JB keeps asking where the rest of the spaceship is. Guess we need to watch The Empire Strikes Back again.
