Pete's Log: Pete's Chili
Entry #2630, (Cooking)(posted when I was 46 years old.)
I made chili tonight for the first time in a few months. Prior to that I was making it more regularly and had dialed into something we were enjoying. So I figure I should record what I'm doing. Since I am by no means a chili purist, this recipe is likely to offend some.
- Chop up an onion and fry it
- Add a pound of ground meat (usually turkey, sometimes beef) and brown it
- Add:
- 16 oz of beef bone broth
- beans (today's mix: 1 can of pinto, 1 can of great Northern, 1 can of black)
- mushrooms
- one can of tomato paste
- a clove of garlic
-
Season with:
- Chili powder
- Smoked paprika
- Cumin
- Pepper
- Worcestershire sauce
I like to start slow and season to taste. Today was my first time including Worcestershire sauce and I'm pleased with the result. As might be expected, the flavor develops more over time. This is unlikely to be the final form of this recipe.
