Pete's Log: Bike Doctor

Entry #2631, (Parenthood, Repairs)
(posted when I was 46 years old.)

JB's had her bike nearly a year now, and recently the crankset had come loose inside the bottom bracket. After some tinkering I was able to get it tightened up again, but it looked to us like it was missing a dust cover. So just to be safe, Jamie and I took it to REI (where we bought it) on Saturday. There we learned it was still in the adjustment phase, so they'd fix it up for free. And we also learned that no dust cover was missing, it's normal on these bikes to be able to see into the bottom bracket.

When we told JB that we'd taken her bike in for repairs, she told us not to say that. Instead she told us we should say that Bikey is at the Bike Doctor.

Anyway, today Bikey came home and it seems that my repairs would have been sufficient. But it's nice to have it looked over by a professional. Especially for free.
